What does Webperf evaluate?
The idea is to measure whether websites that are important to Swedish society follow best practices. It is partly a way to put pressure on those who are not performing well, while those who want to build a good website get help knowing how it turned out. Not everything is easy to measure automatically, but we are gradually adding more tests.

We have vast amounts of historical data. For some websites going back to 2010, as webperf.se is the successor to a now discontinued web service called webbfunktion.com, which has been helping with web quality since 2004.
Which websites are included?
It is almost exclusively the Swedish public sector along with other websites of national interest. Since 2023, those presumed to fall under the private sector accessibility directive are also included on Webperf.se.
Websites must also have reasonably representative content. Therefore, websites that only display text saying they are under construction are delisted. Suggestions are gratefully received.
What are the technical requirements for listed websites?
A more technical qualification is that the website must be on its own domain or subdomain.
Which address is tested?
New rule since January 2024. Webperf's position is now that the domain, without the www prefix, is the homepage.
Where are the tests run from?
The tests are primarily run from Sweden – in Webperf's own test environment in Dalsland (1 Gbit/s via Bitcom) or in the Glesys data centre in Falkenberg (100 Mbit/s). A backup environment runs at Hetzner in Helsinki.
Would you like to allow Webperf's IP addresses? The current list is available at premium.webperf.se.
What is Webperf Premium?
A premium website has no advantages regarding scoring. However, those responsible receive support, tests are run more frequently, and you can log in to read more details.
Who is behind Webperf.se?
Primarily Marcus Österberg. Webperf also consists of a community of sorts that has taken over the development of the tests since 2019. More at the Github repo for Webperf Core.
Can you purchase services from Webperf?
Yes. Accessibility testing and a premium service. Services are sold by Webperf AB (556729-1892).
Which part of the website is tested?
Unless otherwise stated, the test is performed on the website's homepage or the address specified on the website's profile page on Webperf.
How do the categories work?
The idea behind the categories is that you can compare your website with similar ones and get a comparison score.
How and when are the scores calculated?
Individual tests are listed with a date. Premium websites are recalculated several times per hour. Others are updated before their respective monthly report.
My website has been visited by the Webperf bot?
In your logs you can find:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Webperfbot/1.0; +https://webperf.se/om/#11)
This simply means that your site has received a visit from Webperf's automated bot – just like visits from Google, Bing and others.
We are a web agency – how do we get listed?
